Living Automata is a company set up in 2010. Its purpose is to research simple automata revealing behaviour of living organisms. The idea behind the construction of such automata is that behaviour of any living creature, including human, is based on one basic principle. This principle can be modeled in a unit which effectively replicates functions of thousands of neurons. Such units combined together and interconnected in specific orders act in unique and unpredicted ways. They also possess basic "emotions": pain and desire appearing naturally, not introduced artificially.
We believe that given enough space and computational power, these basic modules are capable of processing abstract information, language, and self-perception - key ingredients of the intelligence. We also believe that consciousness is just a side effect of the intelligence ignoring formal definitions of consciousness or intelligence.
